Retief Goosen

The two-time US Open winner, pictured at Turnberry during the 2009 Open Championship, was born on this day in 1969. The South African turned professional in 1990, but it wasn't until ten years later that he rose to the heights of the world game; he was in the top ten of the rankings for over 250 weeks between 2001 and 2007, and won the European Tour Order of Merit in 2001 and 2002. He has been nicknamed 'the Iceman' due to his calm demeanor on and off the course.
